The Friedman Ensemble originally came about as a result of collaboration with director Valentin Reymond for the Jardins Musicaux Festival. In recent years the ensemble has also formed a collaboration with our Swiss collegues to form the Orchestre des Jardins Musicaux which performs larger ensemble repertoire in the Festival as well.
With our unique combination of strings, winds, voice and piano, we have the ability to program a variety of different styles of music and can include works seldom heard for their use of less traditional instrumentation.
The Ensemble now about to embark on a series of projects based on our personal inspirations. We hope that by bringing these inspirations to life through music and talks we can show how great music can inspire and teach us about the world around us.
In addition to regular radio broadcasts for Radio Suisse Romande the Ensemble has also recorded the complete Handel Organ Concertos with Guy Bovet as soloist.
Since 1998, the Friedman Ensemble has worked on projects featuring guest artists from Europe Asia and the United States. These guest artists include:
Frances McCafferty (soprano)
Charles Johnson (baritone)
Bernard Richter (baritone)
Jeanette Fischer (soprano)
Valery Volonov (composer)
Marc Pantillon (piano)
Guy Bovet (organ)
